College Dress Code

Engineering Skills College will require apprentices to adopt a smart and casual dress code and to ensure that their lanyards and ID cards are worn at all times.

ABSENCES & LATENESS

Attendance Guidelines

Ensuring apprentices attend all lessons is crucial for staying on track. At Engineering Skills College, we discourage taking annual leave during term time, considering that apprentices are only at college for 30+ weeks each year.

Absences and Lateness

If an apprentice is going to be late and/or is absent due to sickness or an appointment, they should email: absence@engineeringskills.college and notify their employer before 8:00 am.

Special educational needs and disability (SEND)

At Engineering & Skills College, we prioritise the inclusion of learners with diverse learning and medical needs. Our broad and balanced curriculum incorporates Inclusive Quality First Teaching practices across all year groups.

Apprentices identified as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive tailored educational provisions. SEND includes learners who experience significantly greater difficulty in learning than their peers of the same age or have disabilities that hinder their use of facilities provided in mainstream schools or post-16 education.

For detailed information on how we support SEN learners, please refer to our SEND Policy and SEND Information Report available on our Policies webpage LDE UTC SEN Policy

Our dedicated Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo), Ana Maria Grigore, can be reached via email at senco@ldeutc.co.uk

Wellbeing

The well-being of our learners and staff is a top priority. We have a dedicated Chaplaincy team and an on-site counsellor available to support individuals. Our apprentices participate in a Learning 4Life programme that covers British value themes and promotes their overall well-being. We also prioritise apprentice and employer feedback, conducting regular surveys to improve the delivery experience.

SAFEGUARDING

Safeguarding is a key aspect of our provision, and we have effective measures in place to ensure the safety of our apprentices. Ofsted commended our apprentices for feeling safe and knowing where to seek help. We also actively address the risks of radicalisation and extremism, providing apprentices with appropriate understanding and support.

DIVERSITY

Promoting diversity is a core value of our provision. Our EDI Society plays a crucial role in supporting the equality and inclusion calendar of events. We have also achieved the Gold Equaliteach Award in four main areas, demonstrating our commitment to promoting diversity throughout our provision.
